Robert Jack Schmid died on July 12 in San Mateo. He was 77.

Schmid was born on Jan. 26, 1929, in Los Angeles, where he was raised. Moving to Saratoga, he became an engineer at Lockheed Martin, where he worked extensively on the Fleet Ballistic Missile Program.

He is survived by daughters Carla Orlando of Menlo Park, Andrea Puck of Santa Clara and Mimi Gigoux of Saratoga; son Martin Schmid of San Jose; and nine grandchildren.

Services have been held.
