Looking for a way to get involved with local businesses? The Saratoga Chamber of Commerce will be holding the annual election for new members to serve on the board of directors. Terms will run from Jan. 1, 2004, through Dec. 31, 2005. Individuals interested in becoming board members can either be self-nominated or nominated by other individuals. A nominee must be a current Chamber member in good standing and need not be a resident of Saratoga.

Baloca wins finance award

Administrative Services Director Jesse Baloca was presented with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada for the second consecutive year.

The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting. His report demonstrated a "spirit of full disclosure" as described in a letter by the association and entailed information about the city's debt statistics, revenue and expenditure trends and net operations.


Foundation will throw a party

The Saratoga Historical Foundation will be having its annual garden party at the Saratoga Historical Museum on Sept. 28, 2­4 p.m., as part of the Celebrate Saratoga! Street Dance affair. Public hearing for trail usage

Residents are encouraged to attend a public hearing regarding the possible opening of the Union Pacific Railroad Trail near Congress Springs Park. The meeting will take place during a city council meeting on Oct. 15.
