Frances Kolsky

Frances Cilek Kolsky died on Sept. 10 at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose. She was 83.

Born on Jan. 14, 1920, she was the youngest daughter of Lewis W. and Fannie R. Cilek of Jennings, Kan. A graduate of Jennings High School and the University of Kansas, she married Harwood G. Kolsky in 1942.

During World War II she taught high school while her husband served in the U.S. Army. After the war, the couple moved throughout the country, eventually settling in Saratoga, where they lived for the past 42 years. Kolsky was very active in church and community activities, and became well known for her rolls and Czech pastries.

She is survived by her husband, Harwood, daughter Barbara Meyers and son-in-law Thomas of Fremont, son Franklin and daughter-in-law Michele Kolsky of Kayenta, Utah, son Alan and daughter-in-law Linda Kolsky of Novato, son Douglas Kolsky of Aptos, and two grandchildren.

Services have been held. Donations in her memory may be made to the Patrick A. Kolsky Memorial Fund, 273 Crest Road, Novato, 94945.
