Dolce Spazio Gelato, 221 N. Santa Cruz Ave., is still open for business as usual, contrary to rumors. The gelateria, open since 1980, is owned by Carol and Joe Hargett and Mike Orlando. Carol Hargett said customers have been asking if the store was closing, but that they may have confused Dolce Spazio Gelato with another business up the street, Delizioso—a deli, bakery and café at 133 N. Santa Cruz Ave. that recently closed.

Trader Joe's is coming

Trader Joe's will be coming to town this fall, said Los Gatos Redevelopment Manager Marty Woodworth. The community is eager to see the business open officially in November, he said, and the new store will be located in the old McWhorter's building at 15466 Los Gatos Blvd. He said the new business is a positive change for the community.

"The economy has impacted Los Gatos like everyplace else, and we've seen more turnover than in the past," he said. "But the vacant spaces don't stay vacant long."
