Supervisor will visit Saratoga

Interested in discussing issues stirring throughout the Silicon Valley? The public is invited to attend a community conversation with County Supervisor Liz Kniss on Oct. 23 from 6 to
7:30 p.m. at the Saratoga Senior Center.

Topics to be covered include business relations between the city and the county, transportation, housing, property taxes, finances, and broader concerns about the state and local government. The event is co-sponsored by the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce and the city of Saratoga. Residents interested in attending must RSVP to the Chamber by Oct. 20 by calling 408.867.0753 or by emailing info@saratogachamber.org.

Churches open their doors

In conjunction with the upcoming Building Bridges cultural celebration scheduled for Oct. 26 at the West Valley College campus, several religious organizations in Saratoga—as well as in Cupertino, Santa Clara, San Jose, Sunnyvale and Los Gatos—will be opening their doors to groups interested in learning about different religions. The event will be held on Oct. 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Participating churches in Saratoga include Congregation Beth David on Prospect Road, Sacred Heart Church on Saratoga Avenue, Church of Christ Scientist on Lomita Avenue and Serbian Orthodox Church on Allendale Avenue.

Meet and greet with Dumas

Fans of the novel titled Funny in Farsi: A Memoir of Growing Up Iranian America will have an opportunity to meet author Firoozeh Dumas on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Saratoga Library's Community Room. She will be discussing her book with the Friends of the Saratoga Libraries. Books will be available for purchase and signing. For more information, contact the library at 408.867.6127.
