Bay Area artisans show in Saratoga

The Fellowship Plaza will host its second annual Festival of Treasures on Oct. 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The festival will feature the work of Bay Area artists, including silk painting, jewelry, glass ornaments, quilting, pottery, photography, and a variety of festive holiday items. Between browsing, guests can take a break at the tearoom, which will serve lunch and refreshments during the festival. The Fellowship Plaza is located at 14520 Fruitvale Ave., Saratoga.


Russian vocal group performs

Saint Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church invites the public to its third hosting of the St. Petersburg Quartet Vocal Ensemble on Oct. 11 at 7:30. The quartet aims to promote Russian religious songs as part of a lesson in the cultural heritage of Europe. The concert will feature a cappella choral music from the ancient liturgy of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as folk songs of the Russian people. Saint Archangel is located at 18870 Allendale Ave., Saratoga. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.


Piano stars in the making

Two Saratogans were recently recognized at the National Piano Guild Playing Auditions, a division of the American College of Musicians, founded in 1929. Under the tutelage of Campbell instructor Regina Ziliani, Peter Iannucci was named state winner and Taylor-Leigh Walters earned the honor of local winner. The purpose of the auditions is to function as a noncompetitive event, which encourages student musicians on all levels.


Latin songstress sings at Montalvo

Latin American singing sensation Tania Libertad is touring the U.S. for the first time, and she will include Saratoga in her journey on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. when she performs at Villa Montalvo's Carriage House Theatre. Known for her expressive "boleros" ballads, Libertad is a powerhouse among Latin artists, having released 33 albums spanning a four-decade career. Tickets are $37 or $42, and available through http://www.villamontalvo.org.
