Irma Martin

Irma Elizabeth Hunter Martin died at her residence in Windsor, Calif., on Sept. 25. She was 88.

Born on Nov. 8, 1914, in Clatskanie, Ore., Martin was a 30-year resident of Los Gatos and owner of the Los Gatos Village Inn. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, the late Aaron Martin, for 60 years. She is survived by daughters Elizabeth Hull and husband Dennis and Melinda Martin and husband Douglas Curl, and three grandchildren.

Services have been held. Donations in her honor may be made to the American Heart Association.


Elizabeth McBain

Elizabeth Stewart McBain died on Sept. 27 in Santa Cruz. She was 92.

Born on March 11, 1911, in San Jose, she attended Lakeside School, graduated from Los Gatos High School in 1928, and graduated from San Jose­Santa Clara County Hospital School of Nursing in 1934. That same year she married John C. McBain. The couple moved to Campbell, where they continued to live throughout her career. After retirement, the two moved to Soquel, where she was well-known for her beautiful gardens.

She is survived by daughter Janet McBain Hutchins and numerous nieces and nephews. Services have been held.
