Taking center stage is nothing new for 22-year-old violinist Daphne Wang of Saratoga, but Bay Area music enthusiasts will be in for a special treat on Oct. 18 as she performs as the soloist for the Palo Alto Philharmonic opening season concert. Recently back from studying at the Peabody Music Institute in Maryland, Wang has garnered much attention for her rich, vivacious performances, and claimed top prize in multiple award programs, scholarships, and competitions. In addition to touring throughout the U.S., she is pursing a doctoral degree at USC under Alice Schoenfeld. The concert will be held at 8 p.m. at the Cubberley Theatre in Palo Alto. Tickets are $12 general, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students. To order tickets or for more information, visit http://www.paphil.org or call 408.395.2911.
