Saratoga isn't home to just Heritage Oaks and antique stores anymore. It is now the locale of America's Sexiest Man.
Taking first place in ABC's contest for All My Children, Timothy Heinrich is now the "it" man for women everywhere.
The news reached Heinrich at the same time it did viewers across the country—on air during the Oct. 10 show, when the mock model contest for Fusion Cosmetics announced its winner.
"Waiting for the results was horrible," Heinrich says. All of the final contestants were at the studio at 10 a.m., but had to wait until late afternoon before producers were ready to shoot the announcement scene.
"I was really anxious," Heinrich says. "When you saw it on TV, that is when I found out. But after that, it was very cool."
Heinrich says he wasn't shocked by the win, given his high ranking throughout the voting, but was certainly happy about the decision.
After filming finished for the day, all of the contestants met for drinks and dinner in New York City. "There was obvious disappointment, but all of the guys were congratulatory. It was a really good group of guys," he says.
The show will now have Heinrich on as a recurring character, calling him in when the Fusion story line is featured.
Since the announcement, it has been a blitz of press for Heinrich, who has made appearances on CNN and The View and at multiple radio stations, and will be featured in the next issue of US Weekly.
"I'm going to use the publicity to my advantage as much as possible," he says. "I'm trying to get down to Los Angeles now, because film is really what I want to be in. And I want to go before this dies down."
It has been fun being on television, Heinrich says, but admits it is strange to watch himself. "I'm really self-conscious when I see myself on TV. Everything looks stupid; I always cringe right before I come on."
However, being on set has also given Heinrich a new perspective on the medium. "The more I get into acting, the less I can get into movies, because I realize what a process it is. It becomes less of an actual story, and more of a process," he says. "At the same time, though, I can appreciate it from another angle."
The public has been realizing a few things, too—that the looker from the ABC contest is back on the West Coast and is the new top choice for numerous Saratoga daughters.
"Now everyone wants to set me up with someone," he says. "It's cool, even though they knew who I was before this contest. But, really, I don't mind."
Rest assured, Tim, neither do your fans.
