Laura Rothbard

Laura Rothbard died Oct. 31 from respiratory failure after a yearlong battle with a brain tumor. She was 8.

A third-grade student at Foothill Elementary School in Saratoga, Laura was diagnosed in November 2002 with a rare, inoperable brain tumor. While undergoing radiation therapy at Stanford University Medical Center, Laura continued with her schooling, as well as traveling with her family and keeping busy with friends. She enjoyed swimming, tennis, hip-hop dancing, and crafts.

She is survived by her parents, Vanessa and Todd Rothbard, brothers David and Alexander, and grandparents Brian and Diane Stocks of Santa Clara and Abe and Tobey Rothbard of Las Vegas, Nev.

Services have been held.

Jack Seiquist

Jack Seiquist died from congestive heart failure on Oct. 14 at his home in Monte Sereno. He was 75.

Born on May 19, 1928, in San Diego, Seiquist was an instructor and counselor for 18 years at West Valley College in Saratoga and a member of the Jesuit Novitiate in Los Gatos since 1950.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jo-Ann Oaks Seiquist, sister Shirley Michel and her husband, Ray, of Des Moines, Iowa, and four nieces.

Services have been held. Donations may be made to Catholic charities or any charity of choice.
