Five Saratoga Boy Scouts earn their
Eagle Rank
Saratoga Boy Scouts James LaForge, Ninad Sathe, Jason Chou, Kyle McMullin and Brae McMullin were recently awarded their Eagle Scout ranks.
LaForge, a member of Boy Scout Troop 535 and a student at Prospect High School, landscaped the quad area at Prospect High School for his Eagle project.
Sathe, a member of Boy Scout Troop 581 and a student at Saratoga High School, installed a drip irrigation system at Saratoga Community Preschool for his Eagle project.
Chou, a member of Boy Scout Troop 581 and a student at Saratoga High School, built five benches along the pick-up area at Redwood Middle School for his Eagle project.
The McMullin brothers, members of Boy Scout Troop 563 and graduates of Saratoga High School, completed a landscaping project at Argonaut Elementary School for their Eagle project.
New production
at WVC Theater
Featuring over-the-top physical farce and caustic wit, The Man Who Came to Dinner is now coming to the West Valley College Theater. A 1939 comic production by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, the show begins Nov. 21 at 8 p.m., followed by performances on Nov. 22, 28, 29 and Dec. 4, 5, 6 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 29, 30, and Dec. 6 and 7 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 general and $10 for students and seniors over 65 years old. The Nutcracker
gets a new look
Get into the holiday spirit with an alternative performance of The Nutcracker at Villa Montalvo Nov. 23 at 1 and 3 p.m. The music of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite will provide the background for Jim Gamble Puppet Production, which will feature a full-stage marionette adaptation with colorful string puppets. Triple threat
actors needed
The West Valley Light Opera Association is hosting auditions for A Chorus Line, the second production of its 39th season. Leading and support roles are available for 10 women and 10 men, with most parts requiring singing and all but one requiring dancing. Auditions will be held on Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. and Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Each session is expected to last four hours, with dancing first, followed by vocal auditions. Hopefuls are asked to wear jazz shoes, no midriffs, and to prepare a song for the vocal and bring sheet music. given a grant
The Southwest YMCA has recently been selected to receive a $5,000 JCPenney Afterschool grant, which will provide support for Citizen School, an after-school program for children. The Southwest YMCA was selected from more than 700 YMCA's nationally that submitted grant proposals seeking funds for after school programs.
