Tera Scann-Brereton and James Paul Lally Jr. have announced their intention to wed Jan. 3, 2004, at the Mission of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dr. John and Tery Brereton of Chestertown, Md. A graduate of Boston University, she recently graduated from Naval Nuclear Prototype in Charleston, S.C., and is stationed on the USS John C. Stennis, CVN-74 in San Diego.

Her fiancé is the son of Lynn Lally and the late Captain Paul R. Lally of Saratoga. A graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory high school and Boston University, he is a lieutenant with the U.S. Marine Corps. He recently returned from Operation Iraqi Freedom and is the 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander, Weapons Co., 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
