Officers at the Santa Clara County Westside Sheriff's Substation are investigating the death of a 67-year-old woman who suffered fatal injuries after falling from her bicycle at the corner of Chester Avenue and Via Tesoro Court.

The victim was biking with a group of approximately 20 people who were returning from a lunch at a restaurant in Los Gatos. The group was headed to Los Altos Hills, where they had started their ride.

Based on interviews with the individual who found the victim, Thaler said that she was toward the back of the group, but ahead of others who were approximately 200 feet behind. In addition, the individual said that the traffic was smooth and that there were no problems with the road.

According to Deputy Greg Thaler, the autopsy report showed no apparent signs of physical attack or health-related problems other than a fractured skull that possibly could have resulted from the fall. He said medical examiners will be conducting further tests to determine the cause of the death.

Officers are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the sheriff's office at 408.868.6600 or reach Thaler at 408.868.6626.
