Los Gatos and St. Francis tied for the Central Coast Section field hockey championship this fall. But the Wildcats and Lancers shared more than that in 2003—players from the two schools also shared the Most Valuable Player award in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.

Alison Reyes of Los Gatos and Nicole Ng of St. Francis were named co-MVPs in the division after sensational senior seasons for their respective schools.

Reyes and Ng were two of the four MVPs selected in the three divisions of the BVAL this fall. Junior Gwen Belomy of Saratoga as the Most Valuable Player in the Santa Teresa Division and senior goalkeeper Valerie Niles of Branham was the MVP in the West Valley Division.

Jenny Crane of St. Francis and Erica Nestle of Leigh joined Reyes and Ng as special honors winners in the Mt. Hamilton Division. Crane was named the division's Senior of the Year and Nestle was picked the Junior of the Year.

Justina Williams of Mitty was selected as the Mt. Hamilton Coach of the Year.

Joining Reyes on the all-league squad were a half dozen of her Los Gatos teammates. Seniors Sarah Yuki, Courtney Furia and Jodi Christiansen and junior Bailey Richardson were each named to the all-league first team.

Seniors Christina McGrath and Missy Crane and junior Kattie Quaglia were other St. Francis players on the all-league first team. Winning second-team honors for the Lancers were senior Gaelle Schaller and junior Kelsey Enquist.

Sophomore Natalie Nurnberg and senior Amy Paige were Leigh players on the first team.

Seniors Elle Busch and Sarah Gorman of Mitty, senior Emily Chan of Lynbrook and junior Lizzie Innes of Prospect rounded out the all-league first team.

Senior Erica Johnson and junior Vickie Chien of Lynbrook, senior Jessica Whalen of Los Altos, seniors Nicolette Vallorz and Pamela Salter of Prospect and junior Tory Dombrowski and sophomore Nora Soza of Mitty were other second team picks.

Saratoga's Belomy topped the Santa Teresa dream team as the division's MVP. The junior center mid was joined on the special honors list by teammates Suzanne Lessack, who was named the co-Junior of the Year along with Susanna Peeples of St. Ignatius, and Katie Barco, who was picked the Sophomore of the Year. Amber Olsen of Saratoga was picked the Coach of the Year.

Jamie Sibilia of Monta Vista was selected the division's Senior of the Year.

Seniors Alli Dunn, Amiee Bragonier and Lauren Belomy and junior Kellie York were Saratoga players selected to the all-league first team. Senior Tiffany Kim won a place on the second team for the Falcons.

Niles was the MVP, Lauren Jenness was the Junior of the Year and Kristi Garrison was the Coach of the Year as Branham dominated in the West Valley Division.

Leslie Makishima of Westmont was named the Senior of the Year in the division with teammate Courtney Schembri the Freshman of the Year. Annie Geissler of University was the Sophomore of the Year.

Branham seniors Deserey Castillo and Ann Dinsmour were picked to the all-league first team that also included Makishima, Schembri and juniors Johanna Publicover and Lisa Parola of Westmont, senior Vania Pereira of San Jose Academy, seniors Favis Garcia and Shaida Johnson of Homestead and juniors Mignon Hills and Emily Kyle, senior Alex Wilson-Elizondo and sophomore Caitlin Kent of University.
