Original artwork is for sale at Aegis

The artists of Aegis Gallery are parting ways with their work and offering it up to the public in an open sale through Jan. 25. In order to make room in the studio for next year's creations, the front room of the gallery is full of paintings, photographs and ceramics for sale at reduced prices.

Drummer will perform, lecture

World-renowned drummer Dave Weckl is coming to Saratoga on Jan. 22. A tenured musician who has played with the likes of Simon and Garfunkel, Diana Ross and Chick Corea, Weckl will perform with the West Valley Jazz Ensemble at the West Valley College Theatre at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person for the three-hour concert.

Roizen will visit with local artists

The Saratoga Contemporary Artists group will meet on Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Saratoga Library Community Room.

This month's featured guest will be Moises Roizen, who will demonstrate watercolor painting in gray tones made from primary colors. Refreshments will be served and there will be a peer review of SCA members' works on display.

Art trip to Davis and Sacramento

Art lovers will want to join the Saratoga Recreation Department for a trip to the new Mondavi Center in Davis on Feb. 5. Following a guided tour of the facility, guests will travel to Sacramento for a hosted lunch at Bistro 100 Restaurant, followed by a docent-led tour of the $600,000 Embassy Suites Hotel art collection.

The cost is $69 per person. The bus departs from the Saratoga Community Center at 8 a.m. and returns at 5 p.m.
