The Santa Clara County Council, Boy Scouts of America, honored Bob Kieve of Empire Broadcasting as its Distinguished Citizen for 2003. The annual dinner took place Nov. 20 at the Fairmont Hotel.

SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International), the world's leading association of semiconductor equipment and materials companies, held its 30th annual Forecast and Awards Banquet Dec. 10 at the Santa Clara Marriott. The event was the first fundraiser for the new SEMI Foundation and Workforce Development Institute. Jim Morgan, chairman of Applied Materials, received the organization's first Global Leadership Award.
