Sheriff's Report
Burglary—Jan. 3, 2:50 p.m. on Biarritz Lane. An unknown suspect broke the right front window of a locked vehicle parked in the parking lot of a housing complex and removed the owner's manual and vehicle registration from the glove compartment. There were no witnesses. Latent prints could not be obtained due to rough and dirty car surfaces. However, officers were able to collect photos of the vehicle.

Petty Theft—Jan. 2, 4:15 p.m. on Bellgrove Circle. An unknown suspect took mail from a victim's mailbox. The mail was later recovered by officers from the Hayward Police Department, who found the items in a stolen vehicle. The victim was contacted.

Stored Property—Jan. 1, 6:30 p.m. on Quito Road and Northlawn Drive. Officers stopped a white adult male for riding his bicycle in the dark without lights. The individual also had two outstanding $25,000 misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. The male was taken to jail for the warrants and his bike was transported to sheriff's headquarters for storage.

Identity Theft—Dec. 29, 3 p.m. on Bellgrove Circle. A female victim received her bank statement and noticed several withdrawals from her account. The victim contacted her bank, who told her that the withdrawals were made from a debit card via the Internet. The victim said she did not give anyone permission to use her card.

Grand Theft—Dec. 29, 10 a.m. on Herriman Avenue. An unknown suspect vandalized some vending machines located in the quad area of a school. Officers were unable to obtain prints due to the amount of moisture on the machines.

Grand Theft—Dec. 29, 9:30 a.m. on Vista Arroyo and Parker Ranch. Two victims reported that their two bikes were stolen from the bed of a pickup truck, which was parked in a residential driveway. According to one of the victims, the cost to replace both of the bikes would be approximately $2,000.

Burglary—Dec. 29, 12:30 a.m. on Audrey Smith Lane. An unknown suspect entered an open garage and stole sunglasses, compact discs and two golf clubs from three unlocked vehicles. The suspects are at large.
