City looks for commissioners
Looking for a way to get involved in the community? The city of Saratoga is encouraging residents interested in serving on a city commission to submit an application by Feb. 27. There are seats open in the heritage preservation, planning, public safety, youth and arts commissions.
All commission members serve without pay, with the exception of planning commissioners, who receive a stipend of $150 per month.
Applicants must be Saratoga residents, at least 18 years old and registered voters in the city. Commissioners would serve a four-year term.
Applications are available at the city offices on Fruitvale Avenue and on the city's website at www.saratoga.ca.us. Interviews will be conducted in March. For more information, contact the city at 408.868.1216.
Fire district the topic of meeting
The Local Agency Formation Commission will hold a meeting on Feb. 11, 1:15 p.m., at the County Board of Supervisors chambers, 70 W. Hedding St., San Jose, to discuss the feasibility of having two fire districts serve the city of Saratoga. The commission will be discussing whether the Santa Clara County Fire Protection District should take control of all fire and emergency-related issues throughout the entire city or whether the responsibility should be handed over to the Saratoga Fire Protection District.
