Commission seeks
art for library
Little time is left to submit artwork to the Saratoga Arts Commission to be included in a rotating exhibit in the Saratoga Library. Artists must submit four to five samples of work via slide, Polaroid or photograph. Each entry must be labeled with a name, phone number and medium, and submitted to Kim Saxton-Heinrichs of the Saratoga Arts Commission at 19655 Allendale Ave. by Jan. 29. Valentine's Day
The Aegis Gallery of Fine Art is offering up romantic art to tempt a loved one on Valentine's Day. The gallery will host "Art For Your Sweetheart" on Feb. 1, 35 p.m., which will feature a range of original artworks and an appearance by the artists. production at SHS
Saratoga High School is gearing up for its latest student production, The Philadelphia Story. Written by Philip Barry, this romantic comedy tells of a woman learning the harsh truth about herself through a chaotic tangle of an ex-husband, a tabloid reporter and her new beau. Performances will be held at the Saratoga High Theater, 20300 Herriman Ave., on Jan. 30, 31, and Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. and on Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $9 for general admission and $7 for students, and are available at the school or by emailing philadelphiastorytickets@yahoo.com.
The wonders of
Alaska on film
Renowned wildlife photographer Ron Sanford is making a special appearance at the REI store on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. His slide presentation, "Whales, Bear, Eagles and Icebergs: Wonders of Alaska," features a tribute to Alaska's landscapes and native creatures. The event is free and will be held at 400 El Paseo de Saratoga in San Jose.
