Sheriff's Report
Unlicensed Driver—Jan. 23, 4:24 p.m. on Cox Avenue and Quito Road. An officer stopped a vehicle for having a questionable registration sticker. The sticker was faded and looked as if it had been made on a home computer. The driver said he had purchased the vehicle from his brother-in-law and was unaware of the tag. The officer checked the male driver's license and discovered it was suspended in June 2002 for failure to appear in court. The officer cited and released the driver, but seized the tag and impounded the vehicle.

Under the Influence—Jan. 23, 2:14 p.m. on Quito Road. An officer booked a female passenger in a gray BMW at Main Jail for being under the influence of a stimulant. The woman had fluttering eyelids, a dry mouth, rapid speech and a pulse rate of 110 beats per minute. The vehicle was initially stopped for having an expired registration sticker.

False Registration—Jan. 21, 11:48 a.m. on Saratoga and Fruitvale avenues. An officer conducted an enforcement stop on a white van that was seen making an illegal turn. The driver did not have any proof of registration other than a 2004 sticker. The officer checked the driver's record and discovered that the registration expired in June 2003. The driver was cited.

Mail Theft—Jan. 21, 10:17 a.m. on Prospect Road. A woman said she had left a stack of mail in her house before leaving for a trip. She said that she found her mail scattered along the side of the road upon her return. There are no witnesses or suspects.

Grand Theft—Jan. 20, 3 p.m. on Vineyard Lane. An unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a CD player, a stethoscope, a blood-pressure cuff and two black nylon bags containing visual screening equipment. The value of the items taken is estimated at $860.

Burglary—Jan. 20, 8:50 a.m. on Lynde Lane. An unknown individual entered a classroom and took several items, including a computer, a television and a VCR. The suspect is at large.

Grand Theft—Jan. 19, 9:15 a.m. on Bellwood Drive. A man reported that his $18,000 Rolex watch was stolen from his bedroom while he was in New York. He said that his son had a party in which unknown individuals attended. Officers were not able to obtain prints.
