Stage is set for
art competition
The West ValleyMission College Foundation is seeking talented students for the 2004 Olympiad of the Arts competition. The event is open to all Santa Clara County residents who are in high school or college. Interested individuals may enter in any of the seven categories, including music, acting, poetry, dance, short story and photography.
Entrants must submit applications in March; specific dates depend on the category. Winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony on May 2 at the West Valley College campus. Seats are open
on commissions
The city of Saratoga is encouraging residents interested in serving on a commission to submit an application by Feb. 27. There are seats open on the heritage preservation, planning, public safety, youth and arts commissions.
All commission members serve without pay, with the exception of planning commissioners, who receive a stipend of $150 per month.
Applicants must be Saratoga residents, at least 18 years old and registered voters in the city, and they must have attended at least one meeting prior to the interviewing process, which will be conducted throughout March.

Langstaff family
Pacific Crest Explorers will be sponsoring a night of karaoke and casino games in honor of Kaitlyn Langstaff, who passed away in December 2003.
