Hindi comedy on
stage at WVC
The Bay Area Indian theater group Naatak will present Tathaa Kuru, also known as "The Bhagavad-Gita As It Should Be." Performed entirely in Hindi, the play was written by Sujit Saraf and will be performed at the West Valley College Theater on Feb. 7 at 8 p.m., Feb. 8 at 5 p.m., and Feb. 21 at 8 p.m.
The comedic story tells of Arjun and the Pandavs as they leave a battle for adventures in the forest, where they end up tutored by an anti-Krishna who helps them rewrite the Bhagavad-Gita from an atheist perspective. Tickets are $15 and available through www.naatak.com.
Valentine's Ball at Villa Montalvo
Montalvo is hosting its annual Valentine's Ball "Hearts and Hollywood" on Feb. 6. Guests will be welcomed by Marilyn Monroe and Clint Eastwood impersonators, followed by martinis, dishes by Melons Catering, and dancing to the Jesse Charles Band. To round out the evening, a silent and live auction will be held, with tons of goods up for grabs. Prizes include a mystery dinner for 24 guests at Montalvo, travel packages, and a parking space at Montalvo for one year. The black-tie-optional event is $300 per person or $3,000 for a table of 10. Saratoga sets the
stage for 'Gypsy'
The Saratoga Drama Group is celebrating its winter season with a production of Gypsy at the Saratoga Civic Theater. Set in the 1920s, the show is a music-filled journey into show business as seen through the eyes of an overbearing stage mother and her two daughters. Performances will be held at 8 p.m. on Feb. 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 20, and 21 and at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 15. Tickets are $16 to $20 and available by calling 408.882.5099.
