Sister City offers
2004 scholarship
Saratoga Sister City is accepting applications for the 2004 Gomersall Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to anyone of any age who is interested in furthering their knowledge of any aspect of Japanese culture. The scholarship—established in memory of Ed Gomersall, the former president of Saratoga Sister City—was created to help individuals who share a positive interest in Japanese culture and wish to pursue studies that promote cultural harmony between the United States and Japan.

Local Lions Club
offers scholarships
The Saratoga Lions Club invites all high school seniors who live in Saratoga to apply for its scholarships.
The Lions Club, through the generosity of Saratoga residents, will award $1,000 scholarships to two high school seniors.
A committee of Lions Club members will make the selections based on scholarship, citizenship, service and accomplishments.
To obtain an application, students should contact their high school counselor/scholarship coordinator, or if not available, write to the Saratoga Lions Club Scholarship Coordinator at P.O. Box 101, Saratoga, CA 95071.
Applications are due April 1, 2004.
WVMission
receives donation
The West ValleyMission Community College District recently accepted a check from the SBC Foundation for $5,000.
The donation provides funds to replace obsolete computers, provide high-speed Internet access and purchase presentation equipment.
The funding will benefit West Valley College's website, "Access Silicon Valley," which connects entrepreneurs with the resources they need to start up or expand. District Chancellor Stan Arterberry and Jack Lucas, president of the district's board of trustees, accepted the check from an SBC representative Jan. 15.
