Pacific Crest Explorers hold a benefit for Kaitlyn's family
By Grant Shellen
When 9-year-old Kaitlyn Langstaff died due to complications from an allergic drug reaction Dec. 17, Brad and Kerry Langstaff were left with not only the grief of losing their daughter, but also expensive medical bills. That's why the members of a local father-daughter group to which Kaitlyn and her father belonged are sponsoring a casino night to raise money for the Langstaffs.

Saratoga resident Mark Pasos said he and other participants in the YMCA's Pacific Crest Explorers program wanted to reach out to Kaitlyn's family.

"The fathers thought it might be nice to raise some money for their family," Pasos said. "All of us in the Pacific Crest Explorers can relate, because we all have daughters the same age."

Pasos said the casino night, being held at the Los Gatos Elks Lodge at 105 Newell Ave. on March 5, will include traditional casino games such as roulette, blackjack and keno in addition to karaoke and raffles for prizes donated by local businesses and residents. Attendees can receive raffle tickets either by redeeming chips won from the casino games or purchasing them.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Langstaffs.

The Casino Night will be held on March 5 from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per adult. To purchase tickets, checks made payable to "Pacific Crest Explorers" may be sent to Mark Pasos, 18300 Swarthmore Drive, Saratoga, CA 95070.
