Chow returns as guest at youth gymnastics event
Amy Chow, an Olympic gold and silver medal winner, will sign autographs when she makes an appearance at the annual West Valley Spirit of the Flame Gymnastics Challenge on Feb. 28, 3:45 p.m., at the Westin Hotel in Santa Clara.
Chow is a product of West Valley Gymnastics, a nationally recognized gymnastics center based in Campbell.
Six hundred of the top female gymnasts from throughout the United States will compete in the Spirit of the Flames event Feb. 28 and 29, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day, at the Westin.
Tickets are prices are $30 for the weekend, $20 per day or $10 per session for adults, $20 for the weekend, $10 per day or $5 per session for youngsters 12 and under. Admission is free for children 5 and under.

Falcons fall
The Saratoga girls soccer team lost 4-1 to St. Francis in the second round of the Central Coast Section Division II playoffs last week. The loss left the Falcons 11-5-5 for the season.
The Falcons and Lancers battled to a scoreless tie in the first half. Annie McAllister scored a second-half goal for Saratoga, but St. Francis poured in four goals in the second half to cruise to the win.
Bronco baseball
The Santa Clara University baseball program will host a Youth Spring Break Camp for players ages 512 at Bellomy Field on the Bronco campus. Sessions will be held April 57 and April 1214, 9 a.m. to noon each day. The cost is $125 for each session.

Slammers tryouts
The San Jose Slammers, a girls fastpitch softball 16A travel team, is looking for position players for the summer season, that includes a tournament in Hawaii. Tryouts will be held March 6. For more information, call Scott McCollum at 408.448.3639.
Flash tryouts
The West Valley Flash, a girls under 11 (born after July 31, 1992) Class 1 soccer team, is looking for players, including a goalkeeper, for the spring season. The Flash posted a 10-0 record a year ago and made it to the round of 16 at the Class 1 State Cup competition. For more information, call Vicki at 408.810.0400.
5-on-5 soccer

The Los GatosSaratoga Girls Softball Association is looking for an umpire-in-chief to oversee umpiring needs for the spring season that will begin in March.
