Tayler Davis won the girls 12 and under title at the USTA National Open tournament played Feb. 2122 in Claremont, Calif. Davis, an Almaden resident, won 6-1, 6-1 in the finals to claim the crown.

Davis defeated her Los Gatos Swim & Racquet Club doubles partner, Zoe DeBruycker of Saratoga, in the semifinals 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6). Davis and DeBruycker have both qualified for the Super Nationals coming up in April.

The two local tennis stars train at Los Gatos Swim & Racquet Club under the direction of coach Mike Jessup, a former Saratoga High School tennis star. Jessup, a Cupertino resident, will not only coach the two youngsters in April, but he'll be competing on the court himself. He is one of two Americans chosen to take part in the Windmill Cup tournament April 511 in Mexico City.
