Stage is set for
art competition
Got what it takes to be a star? The West ValleyMission College Foundation is looking for talented high school and college students within Santa Clara County to join the 2004 Olympiad of the Arts competition. Individuals may enter in any of the seven categories: music, acting, poetry, dance, short story, photography and visual arts.
Applications for the music and dance categories must be submitted by March 26; other submission dates vary according to category. Competition in each category will be held throughout April. Ceramic artists will show work
Three well-known ceramic artists—Jacqueline Butts, Starr Davis and Eduardo Lazo—will debut their most recent works at the Aegis Gallery of Fine Arts on 14531 Big Basin Way through March 28. Visit the gallery's website at www.aegisgallery.com to view some of their works.
Association casts
members for play
The West Valley Light Opera Association invites those interested in performing in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers to an audition on March 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be a second audition on March 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. for those who cannot make it to the first session. Candidates must come prepared to sing or dance. Tapes and CDs are not permitted, but an accompanist will be provided.
All roles are open to residents 18 and older. Rehearsals begin April 16, and performances are set for weekends starting June 26, with the show running through July 31. For more information, call 408.356.7340 or 408.729.6641.
Senior center takes trip to the city
