Lions host dinner
at La Hacienda Inn

Join the members of the Saratoga Lions Club for an evening of gourmet food and live musical entertainment at their annual spring event on March 28 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the La Hacienda Inn, 18840 Saratoga­Los Gatos Road.

The event benefits local charities, including the Lions Blind Center of Santa Clara County, which helps sight-impaired individuals achieve independence. It also supports vision and hearing tests in schools, diabetes screenings and eyeglass-recycling programs.

To top off the affair, there will be a silent auction. Guests must purchase tickets in advance by calling 408.867.2300 by March 27. Tickets are $35.

Jazz-ical show
rocks Saratoga

Trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, pianist Cedar Walton and Grammy-nominated guitarist Howard Alden are among several widely recognized musicians in the Newport Jazz Festival All-Stars who will be performing at Villa Montalvo, 15400 Montalvo Road, on March 21.

Celebrating 50 years of the Newport Jazz Festival, the stars will be touring the U.S. The show will begin at 7 p.m. at the Carriage House Theater. Tickets, ranging in price from $30 to $35, can be purchased online at www.sanjosejazz.org or by calling 408.288.7557. All ticket sales are final.

Montalvo to host
first wine class

Villa Montalvo will host its first annual Food and Wine Classic on April 25, including a cooking display by 12 top California chefs and a wine tasting featuring 20 vintners. Special guests include nationally known chef David Kinch and Rajat Parr, wine director of Mina Group. There will also be a silent auction.

The event, benefiting Montalvo's Education and Outreach Program, will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is limited to 400 people. The cost is $150 per person. To reserve a spot, contact Romala Breckenridge at 408.961.5855.
