Citizens needed for
advisory group

The city of Saratoga is accepting applications for seats on a citizens advisory committee dealing with General Plan land-use-element updates. There are approximately five seats available. Applicants must be available for monthly or bimonthly daytime meetings for one to two years. Applications are available on the city's website at www.saratoga.ca.us. Lions host dinner
at La Hacienda

The Saratoga Lions Club will host an evening of gourmet food and live music at its annual Spring Event on March 28 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at La Hacienda Inn, 18840 Saratoga­Los Gatos Road. The event benefits local charities, including the Lions Blind Center of Santa Clara County, which helps people with impaired vision achieve independence. It also supports vision and hearing tests in schools, diabetes screenings and eyeglass-recycling programs.

There will be a silent auction at the event. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling 408.867.2300 by March 27. Admission is $35.

Saratoga cancels planning meeting

The Saratoga Planning Commission has canceled its March 24 meeting due to lack of a quorum. The commission's next meeting will be held April 14 at 7 p.m. in the Civic Theater at 13777 Fruitvale Ave.

Building Bridges program returns

The Saratoga Rotary announced that it is planning a second annual Building Bridges cultural diversity celebration. Like last year's celebration, it will include educational projects in area schools, speakers at the Saratoga Library and other events in the two weeks before the main festival on Oct. 10. That event will feature ethnic foods, international performers and booths staffed by various community organizations. West Valley Community College will host the festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.saratogarotary.org.
