Sheriff's Report
Grand Theft—March 13 between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m. on Saratoga­Los Gatos Road. Someone stole a chair that was sitting in front of a retail site. The owner of the chair reported its value at $700.

Petty Theft—March 17 between 11 and 11:30 a.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. An unidentified white male stole DVDs valued at $150 from a retail store. He ran out of a security door at the rear of the building. A VHS security tape of the incident was given to police and filed as evidence.

Vandalism and Trespassing—March 17 at 10:35 a.m. on McCulloch Avenue. A woman reported that her neighbor went through the closed fence between their properties and poured a yellow liquid onto the base of two trees hanging over his property. He then threw the empty container over the fence onto his property and walked back to his residence. A county hazardous materials team determined the area's pH balance to be consistent with a strong acid.

Vandalism—Between March 12 at 9 a.m. and March 17 at 8:30 p.m. on Marilla Drive. Someone broke a gate leading into the backyard of a residence. The gate was broken off of the fence and lying on the ground. The owner estimated damage at $400.

Vandalism—Between March 18 at 11:30 p.m. and March 19 at 8:30 a.m. on Pierce Road. Someone made three dents with an unknown tool on the passenger side of a vehicle. The vehicle was parked in a residential driveway.

Drug Possession—March 21 at 12:05 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 85 and Saratoga Avenue. When an officer was assisting on a vehicle stop, two additional vehicles approached from the rear. The driver of the first vehicle told the officer he believed the driver of the second vehicle was following him. The officer approached that driver and noticed a strong odor of marijuana. Upon running a record check, he discovered that the driver had an outstanding $10,000 arrest warrant. The man was arrested and booked into Main Jail.

Hate Crime and Vandalism—Between March 13 at noon and March 15 at 7 a.m. on Aloha Drive. Someone used a felt-tip marker to draw a swastika on a residential mailbox.

Contracting Without a License—March 13 at 9 a.m. on Sarahills Court. A resident hired a man to do tree trimming and cleanup of debris at her home. The woman gave him a $200 check to pay for a trash bin and agreed to pay him $1,450 when the job was done. The man, who was found to have no contractor's license, cashed the check and never contacted the resident or finished the job.
