Library features art by Karlak
The Saratoga Arts Commission is kickin' off spring with a colorful collection of artwork featured on the Saratoga Library Art Wall.
Visitors can check out award-winning photographer Susanne Karlak's close-ups of red poppies, purple irises and yellow tulips. Karlak, whose work has been recognized by Popular Photography, shares the spotlight with Howard and Lynn Jameson, experienced in capturing still photos of birds in the birds' natural environments. The exhibit will be on display throughout April.
Sunland residents hear proposal
Residents of Saratoga's Sunland Park neighborhood met March 23 to hear and discuss a proposal for 60 condominium units near the intersection of Quito Road and Highway 85. Representatives of Barry Swenson Builder presented the proposal for the units, of which they said 50 percent would be made available for low-income community employees and teachers.
Neighbor Elizabeth Lara said residents discussed their concerns about traffic flow, density (the land is currently zoned for four homes) and the implementation of the reduced housing costs. She said an Environmental Impact Report still needs to be conducted on the site, which has been declared a flood zone.
