Jazz musician to
perform at WVC

Jazz bassist and vocalist Kristin Korb will perform as part of the first annual Vocal Jazz Day at West Valley College. Korb, former director of jazz studies at Central Washington University, will listen to performances from four local high school and college jazz choirs and offer professional critiques on the afternoon of March 31.

The student of legendary jazz bassist Ray Brown will then host a free open clinic on improvisation in the West Valley College Theatre at 4 p.m. She and two of the choirs will perform at 8 p.m. in the theater.

Community dance
is coming April 2

The Saratoga Youth Commission invites all sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders to an All City Middle School Dance on April 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Saratoga Community Center, 19655 Allendale Ave.

Tickets for the 2 1/2-hour affair are $5 and will be available at the door.

Staff from the Saratoga Recreation Department will chaperone the event. School identification is required and a dress code will be enforced.

Wood carvers will
host annual show

The Santa Clara Valley Carvers and West Bay Woodturners will present their 37th annual show featuring creations of different shapes and sizes.

The event is April 17, 10 a.m.­5 p.m., in the gym at Prospect High School, 18900 Prospect Road.

Hosseini to speak
at Friends meeting

Khaled Hosseini will discuss his first novel, The Kite Runner, at the next Friends of the Saratoga Libraries meeting on April 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Saratoga Library Community Room.
