| The weekend of March 13 and 14 was a feast of activities in and around San Francisco's Nob Hill as the San Jose/Silicon Valley members of the Sovereign Order of St. John staged their investiture of new Knights and Dames. The investiture took place at Grace Cathedral, with the Mark Hopkins Hotel serving as a venue for celebrating. The organization raises funds for charitable causes. The San Juan Bautista Child Development Center has been a special focus for the local chapter. |

| One of the steps on the way to this year's Silicon Valley Charity Ball was the March 11 Royal Tea Party, a Cinderella Project to aid select San Jose schools with student graduation expenses, including ball gowns. The event took place at the Imperial Ballroom at the Fairmont Hotel and featured fashions by St. John at Santana Row. The event was sponsored by the Silicon Valley Charity Ball Foundation. |
