The San Jose Giants will play their California League home opener on April 16 when they host Visalia at 7 p.m. in the first game of a three-game weekend series. The Giants will meet Visalia again at 5 p.m. on April 17 and 1 p.m. on April 18, all at San Jose Municipal State. After that Modesto is in for four 7 p.m. games April 19­22. The Saratoga Recreation Department is accepting registration for its men's D summer softball league season. Games will be played Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 p.m. and 7:05 p.m., at El Quito Park. The first annual golf tournament to benefit the Santa Clara University mens soccer team will be held at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose on May 18, with a shotgun start set for 1:30 p.m.

Youth football

The Campbell­Saratoga Wolverines are coming home.

After waiting two years for the renovation of the football field at the Campbell Community Center, the teams of the youth football organization will be back on their home turf for the 2004 season.

The club will hold sign-ups for players and cheerleaders from mid-April through August. For special times and dates, check the website at www:campbellfootball.net.
