Weiss will hold
open office hours

Saratoga Union School District Superintendent Lane Weiss will hold open office hours for parents and community members to drop in for short one-on-one appointments between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on May 6 at Redwood Middle School. For more information, call 408.867.3424.

Woods receives
teaching award

Thespian instructor Kathleen Woods, in her sixth year of teaching drama at Saratoga High School, was nominated to the Who's Who Among America's Teachers 2004 by a former student. According to SHS Principal Kevin Skelly, Woods works tirelessly on behalf of the students. She was also responsible for directing the spring musical in March, Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Saratoga singers
earn recognition

Junior Michelle Augustine and senior Jennifer Wu are two students from Saratoga High School who have been selected from the more than 2,000 singers who auditioned from five Western states to make up a 150-member Women's Western Division Honor Choir that recently performed in Las Vegas.

Junior Beth Guido and sophomores Rachel Balma and Lisa Luoh were also selected from hundreds of singers in the state for the California All-State Honor Choir, which recently performed at a state convention in Sacramento.

The school's end of the year spring concert is set for May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's School, 13601 Saratoga Ave. in Saratoga.

Children's art
at WVC library

The library at West Valley College, 14000 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga, is featuring a special art exhibit created by children ages 2­5 who attend the WVC child development center. The exhibit is sponsored by the Teachers of Tomorrow Club and celebrates the "Week of the Young Child." The exhibit is on display until April 30, and the library is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
