The steep incline on Nicholson Avenue in the back streets of Los Gatos was resurfaced a few weeks ago, and no one could be more pleased about it than the entrants in the upcoming Cat's Hill Classic.
World class bicycle riders will return to the streets of Los Gatos on May 8 for the 30th running of the prestigious event that features the grueling trek up the 23 percent grade known as the Cat's Hill.
More than 500 amateur and professional riders are expected for the series of races on the one-mile course that starts at the corner of Tait and Nicholson avenues. The clockwise loop includes six 90-degree turns and also the trip up the hill that gave the race its name.
The Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club sponsors the event that features races ranging from three to 35 laps, depending on age and ability levels. Race action begins at 9 a.m. on May 8.
