Saratoga hosts
choral concert

Saratoga High School's end of the year spring concert is set for May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's School, 13601 Saratoga Ave. The concert will feature the women's chamber singers, men's choir, barbershop quartet, and a cappella and concert choirs, all conducted by director Jim Yowell. Admission is free.

Police Week

National Police Week is May 9­15, with May 15 proclaimed "Peace Officers Memorial Day." Congress has requested that flags be flown at half-mast on May 15 to honor officers who have died in the line of duty.

The West Valley College police department has blue ribbons available at its office, 14000 Fruitvale Ave., Saratoga.

Parents learn to
cope with autism

Loyola Leveroni, a Saratoga schools­based speech and language therapist, and colleague Tracie Soder will hold two orientation meetings regarding the "More Than Words" program, a 12-week workshop starting in September that teaches parents of young children with autism how to expand their communication abilities.

The program was developed by the Hanen Centre, a Canadian nonprofit organization that helps young children with or at risk of language delays to communicate. The meetings will be held June 10 and Aug. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. For more information, contact Leveroni at 831.336.5976.

Saratoga to host
sports auction

Saratoga High School is hosting its annual Sports Boosters Auction and Dinner on May 16 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Mountain Winery. Proceeds from the event will help keep the school sports programs alive by paying for coaches, trainers, equipment, uniforms, clinics and more.

Participants will have the opportunity to bid on jewelry, collectibles, trips, theme dinners, sports memorabilia and specialty wines, to name a few items. The cost is $220 per couple, with dinner and drinks included. Contact Sue Bac at 408.867.3392 or email sbac@kpcb.com.
