Homes of Vines and Roses Tour is featuring four exquisite homes
By My Ngo
Everybody is guilty of it—checking out a neighbor's backyard from the bedroom window or slowing down traffic to admire a home.

Thanks to the Addison Penzak Jewish Community Center of Silicon Valley, residents can gawk all they want without feeling like intruders. The center is hosting its annual Homes of Vines and Roses Tour on May 20 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The tour will feature four exquisite homes, ranging from 2,500 square feet to more than 6,000 square feet in size, in undisclosed areas in Saratoga and Los Gatos.

"These homes are definitely worth seeing. They'll blow almost anyone away," says Judy Kaplan. "They are all different from one another and different from homes featured in the previous year."

According to Kaplan, one of the homes is French-inspired, with unique amenities including handmade bathroom tiles made by the homeowner's 18 grandchildren, an outdoor fireplace, a game room and a gym complete with exercise equipment, a sauna and a spa.

Another home on display has a California ranch theme with huge windows overlooking the patio. It also has 6,000 square feet of unique molding, an infinity pool and an open flowing room consisting of a lounge, a dining room and a living room.

"The committee that selects the homes has high standards," Kaplan says. "They look at a variety of things such as accessibility, size and whether the house is current with trends."

The event wouldn't have been possible without the help of several local designers who gave some of the homes a complete makeover. The designers include The Rose Collection, Bloomsters, Design and Interiors, Donna Higgins and Tiffany and Company.

Tickets for the tour are $30 and can be purchased at The Rose Collection, Bloomsters, Sur La Table, Design and Interiors and The Butter Paddle. Buses will shuttle participants to each of the homes on the tour. The pickup and drop-off site is Sacred Heart Church. Proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the center's senior and children's programs.
