Malachy Moran
Malachy Moran, 83, died on May 3 in his Saratoga home after a long battle with Lou Gehrig's disease.
Moran had a passion for aircraft. As an aerospace engineer for Lockheed, he helped design the Constellation aircraft, the Lockheed C-130 and C-5A cargo planes, the Voyager spacecraft and the Polaris and Poseidon missiles.
Born in Ireland, Moran was a longtime member of the Irish Social Club of Santa Clara County, with whom he raised money to promote peace in Ireland.
Moran is predeceased by his son, Kevin, who was killed while trying to stop political violence in Isla Vista. He is survived by his wife, Helen; his children Rita Moran, Terence Moran, Brian Moran, Joan O'Brien, Mary Drexler, Enniskerry Moran, Malachy Moran Jr., Kathleen Menasce, Sheila Couch and Margaret Weir; his sisters, Rita Sheehan and Kathleen Borg; 25 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Matilda Pourroy Reynaud
Matilda Pourroy Reynaud, 95, died on April 25 after suffering a heart attack. Born and raised on a ranch in Saratoga where the Savannah-Chanelle winery is now located, Reynaud spent much of her childhood helping tend the land and harvesting prunes and grapes. Later she partnered with her husband, Louis, and his sister in running the Longbridge Resort, now Saratoga Springs.
In 1948, the couple moved to Cupertino, where they lived for 20 years. After her husband's death, she moved to Mission Villa Alzheimer's Residence in Campbell.
Reynaud loved many things in life, including gardening, music and animals. She is survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
