Stolen Property—May 14 at 8 a.m. on SaratogaSunnyvale Road and Cox Avenue. A car was stopped and the driver was found to be without a license. The car was towed and the man driving the car was cited and released. It was later found that the license plate had been stolen. An officer called the man and said that he wanted to take back his citation. The man gave his location and he was then arrested for possession of stolen property.
Lamp Post Damage—Between May 13 at 5 p.m. and May 14 at 8 a.m. on Shadow Oaks Drive. Unknown person damaged a lamp post. The damage was estimated at $400.
DUI—May 13 at 4 p.m. northbound on Highway 85. A red Datsun was stopped and an officer found that the registration had expired. The driver and two other people in the car were found to be under the influence of a stimulant. All three were arrested.
Marijuana—May 10 at 11 a.m. on Saratoga and Campbell avenues. A man was stopped while driving. He did not have a valid driver's license and had two outstanding arrest warrants against him. A search of the vehicle yielded coin-sized bags containing marijuana. He was arrested.
Check Fraud—Between May 7 and May 9 on Blauer Drive. A buyer in London sent an $8,550 cashier's check for the purchase and delivery of the victim's vehicle. The victim deposited the check and sent $3,800 to the buyer's shipping agent in Canada. The transaction was cancelled subsequently and the victim sent back $4,000. The victim's bank later advised that the cashier's check was counterfeit.
Stolen Checks—Between April 23 and April 25 on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. Two checks worth a total of $1,400 were stolen and cashed. A search of a man's property around 1 p.m. on May 10 revealed a credit card that had been lost or stolen. He was arrested.
Tree Damage—Between April 12 and April 28 on Ione Court and Woodmont Drive. An officer dispatched to the city of Saratoga maintenance yard on a vandalism report found multiple holes drilled into seven eucalyptus trees. The city arborist believes that herbicide was placed in the holes.
