Redwood Middle School's eighth-grade graduation ceremony is June 11 at 4 p.m. on the back field; Saratoga High School's commencement is June 10 at 5 p.m. on the Lee Hancock baseball field; and the Nova program's ceremony is June 9 at 9 a.m. at the Los GatosSaratoga Joint Union High School district office.

WVC cuts energy to save money

To save energy and money this summer, West Valley College in Saratoga and its district offices will be cutting back hours of operation. From May 31 through Aug. 13, the district offices and classrooms will be closed Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

"If the district does not use air conditioning, computers and lights, it saves $5,000 a day," said Ian Abell, WVC facilities director.

Employees will work four 10-hour days Monday through Thursday, and the campus police will be on patrol even when district facilities are closed. Students can still apply for admission and register for summer classes via the college's website at www.wvmccd.cc.ca.us.
