Celebrate Saratoga! will feature six bands
By Kaustuv Basu
It's going to be one more fabulous night in Saratoga. That's how Kristin Davis, executive director of the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, chooses to describe Celebrate Saratoga!

This is the 16th year that the Chamber is hosting the Celebrate Saratoga! event, a night of fun, music, food and wine. More than 400 volunteers will be on hand to ensure that the festivities go on smoothly.

The Street Dance 2004 starts at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 in Saratoga Village. Big Basin Way will be closed to traffic from 2 p.m. on that Saturday.

"We have a great fun zone and family activity area. The Boy Scout troops are putting up a climbing wall," said Davis. The children will have bounce houses, face painting, balloons, spin art, cotton candy and basketball toss to play around with.

Six bands will be performing on six stages. The bands are Fifties and Sixties Forever, Flashback, Red Beans and Rice, Silicon Valley Houserockers, the Heartbeats and the Hitmen.

Fine wines will be available from a whole host of local vineyards. Gourmet food will be available from local restaurants on Big Basin Way as well as outside caterers.

"We have added one more shuttle bus this year," said Davis. "The shuttle buses will run continuously in a loop between Saratoga High School, Argonaut Center and West Valley College Lot 5," she said.

Davis said that people parking at Saratoga High School could also walk to the Village instead of waiting for the shuttle.

She also advised people not to try and park in the Village area because the parking lots tend to fill up very fast.

Celebrate Saratoga! is one of the main fundraisers for the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce. "It also increases business and generates sales tax for the city and exposes the locals to merchants in the Village," said Davis.
