Detectives are still looking for suspect in armed robbery
By Kaustuv Basu
The staff at the Quiznos on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road was looking forward to another busy Saturday evening on Jan. 22. But they had an unexpected visitor that day.

At around 6:50 p.m., a man walked up to one of the staff members, showed her a gun tucked into his waistband and asked to be given all the money from the cash register.

The nervous employee failed to open the cash register and called out to the owner of the shop. The owner finally managed to open the register and the man left with about $1,600 in cash.

"I can only say that the suspect is a white male adult. Our detectives are still working on the case. I cannot reveal any more information at this point," said Lt. Terry Calderone of the West Valley Substation, Santa Clara Sheriff's Department.

Calderone said that the owner of the restaurant had tried to follow the armed robber but he quickly disappeared in his car.

"I do not think that this robbery is connected to the one we had before at the Jamba Juice outlet at the Argonaut Shopping Center," Calderone said.

Quiznos is located on the Saratoga border near Prospect Road.
