It will be a busy week for the Saratoga wrestling team. First the Falcons will try to pin down the dual match championship in the El Camino Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League, then two days later they'll find out how they stack up against the rest of the teams in the SCVAL.

The Falcons will be on the road to Palo Alto on Feb. 10 for the match at Gunn to determine the El Camino title. The Falcons take a 6-0 dual match record into the 6 p.m. bout.

Saratoga will then compete in the SCVAL finals on Feb. 12 in an all day tournament at Lynbrook, battling the likes of Los Gatos, Fremont, Cupertino and the rest of the powerhouses from the De Anza Division. A day earlier, the junior varsity finals will be held at Lynbrook.

The Falcons made short work of visiting Lynbrook in a dual match last week, pounding the Vikings 53-21. Lynbrook picked up a couple of forfeit wins and won two bouts, but the Falcons dominated the match, pinning in six weight classes.

Allen Chen had the quickest pin of the night for Saratoga, dropping his opponent less than 30 seconds into his match at 114 pounds. Danny Gold won by fall at 1:10 of the first round at 142, Jeffery Nguyen pinned quickly in just 1:27 at 105 and Stephen Chu dropped his foe is just 1:45 at 132.

Tim Usher nailed a fall at 3:20 of the second round at 127 pounds, and Scott Surrette pinned with a minute left in the final round at 137.

Johnathon Venuti rolled up a 12-0 win at 173 pounds for the Falcons and Kyle Stoffers cruised 17-7 at 191. Michael Block pulled out a close 7-3 victory at 162.

Derek Macklin lost a tight 11-7 decision at 147.
