Sister City group plans to send four Saratoga students to Muko
By Kaustuv Basu
The Saratoga Sister City Organization, in collaboration with its sister city in Japan, is conducting an exchange program that will enable four high school students from the Saratoga area to travel to Muko from July 25 to Aug. 18.

"They will perform the role of student ambassadors," said Patrick Fasang, the student exchange committee chair.

The selected students from Saratoga will stay at the homes of some Muko students who have volunteered for the program. "The families of the selected Saratoga students will also host the Muko students when they come here later in the year," Fasang said.

He said that such visits help in developing friendship between different cultures and countries.

The selected high school students will incur very little expense during the Muko visit. "Their airfare will be paid for. The host families are in charge of providing food and other amenities," said Fasang.

The students will meet with the mayor of Muko, and "four of them will write a speech together and speak in front of city leaders," said Fasang.

"We look for students who are receptive to learning the culture of another country and are team players," said Fasang.
