Sitney
Coletta "Cabby" Sarah Sitney, 90, a longtime Saratoga resident, died April 5.
Sitney moved to Saratoga in 1954. She and her husband, Jay, were one of the founding families of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Saratoga. Sitney worked for more than 20 years in the St. Andrew's Echo Shop and was on the church's altar guild for many years.
At various points in her life, Sitney served on the board of West Valley College, was a member of the Saratoga Foothill Club, served as the president of the Santa Clara County Medical Auxiliary and was the first woman to run for the Saratoga City Council. The Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, which grants special recognition to outstanding citizens, bestowed an award on the Sitneys for their work in church and community affairs and in particular for their leadership in helping to make the Saratoga Youth Center a reality. Sitney served for two years as president of the youth center.
In her younger years, Sitney worked in the nursing field, where she was an emergency room supervisor.
Sitney is survived by her daughter, Jan Miller, her son-in-law, Michael Miller, and her step-granddaughter, Monique Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J. Jay Sitney, and her brother, Frederick Krum.
A memorial service was held on April 16 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga.
