Mouths everywhere will be drooling with pleasure as the Mountain Winery in Saratoga kicks off its ninth annual Rivers of Chocolate Festival on May 1.
Nicknamed "A Fantasy for Your Palate," this decadent event is known as the premier chocolate-tasting event in Northern California. The only thing better than all of that chocolate is that proceeds from all admission tickets sold benefit Social Advocates for Youth, which offers programs and services for at-risk teens in the Bay Area, and EHC LifeBuilders, which provides shelter, housing programs and support services to homeless individuals and families across Santa Clara County.
The 2004 festival saw more than 450 attendees, raising approximately $100,000 for the two organizations. Mountain Winery staff says this year's goal is $120,000.
The Mountain Winery is preparing to welcome such local food and spirit purveyors as La Fondue, The Plumed Horse, Sent Sovi, The Basin, Cooper-Garrod Vineyards, Cocoa Bon Fine Chocolates, Testarossa Winery and Savannah Chanelle Vineyards, to name a few. There will also be an auction during the event, which takes place from 1 to 5 p.m.
Tickets are $75 in advance and $90 at the door. For more information, to purchase tickets or to preview auction items, visit www.riversofchocolate.org or call 408.956.8034, ext. 112.
