Sheriff's Report
Found Property--On Sept. 17 at 10:45 p.m. on Big Basin Way and Third Street. An adult female who wished to remain anonymous gave the officer a cell phone she found on Big Basin Way during the Celebrate Saratoga! street party. The phone was inoperable. The officer booked the phone into the evidence locker as found property at the West Valley Substation.

Mail Theft--Sometime between 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 16 and 10 a.m. on Sept. 17 on McCulloch Avenue. An unknown person(s) stole mail from a mailbox. The outgoing mail was taken before the mail carrier arrived for the day. The stolen mail included 16 payments with personal checks totaling approximately $25,000.

Mail Theft--On Sept. 14 at 6:40 p.m. on Wendy Lane. Two females were observed removing mail from unlocked mailboxes. When they were spotted and yelled at by witnesses, the females fled in an old, beige 4-door sedan. The items stolen are unknown and the females remain at large.

Petty Theft--On Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m. on Herriman Avenue. A person left her bag, which contained a pair of jeans, a shirt and a cell phone valued at $300, on a bench after being picked up by her mother. The person and her mother returned a short time later and the bag was gone. The person checked with the school for any lost property turned in but had no success. The cell phone service has been turned off and the cell phone reported as stolen/lost.

Found Property--On Sept. 13 at 7:30 a.m. on Carol Lane. A person was walking and noticed a $100 bill on the ground. There were no people around at the time. The person picked up the $100 bill and returned home to report the found money. The officer took the $100 bill and booked it into the found property locker at the sheriff's headquarters.

Vehicle Burglary--Sometime between 10 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 8:50 a.m. on Sept. 13 on Dundee Avenue. A vehicle window was broken and approximately $200 in items were taken.

Lost Property/Passport--On Sept. 9 at 6 a.m. on Pierce Road. A British citizen resided at an address on Pierce Road while working as a soccer coach. When he moved to another address in San Jose, he was not able to locate his British passport, which he had placed in his bag.

Burglary--Sometime between midnight on Sept. 9 and 9 a.m. on Sept. 17 on Devon Avenue. A burglary occurred at a residential construction site. An unknown person entered a fenced area and used a drill to remove a lock from a storage shed. Approximately $1,300 worth of equipment was taken. The victim's site has been hit four times in the last month.
