Sheriff's Report
Under the Influence--On Oct. 30 at 1:07 p.m. on Quito Road and McCoy Avenue. The officer stopped and talked to a female displaying symptoms of being under the influence of a stimulant. The officer found a hypodermic needle in her backpack. The female was arrested and booked into the main jail.

Possession of an Illegal Weapon--On Oct. 29 at 12:51 a.m. on Saratoga Avenue and Fruitvale Avenue. An officer saw a vehicle parked on the side of the road. The officer contacted the driver, who had a no-bail warrant. The officer searched the vehicle and found several homemade weapons and a tear gas canister with the serial number removed. The officer also found several glass pipes and Viagra pills in a plastic bag. The driver was arrested and booked into the main jail.

Residential Burglary--On Oct. 26 between 8:05 and 11 a.m. on Paseo Lado. A person returned home in time to see a fleeing burglar. The burglar had taken a laptop computer, a digital camera and a Rolex watch. The estimated value of the watch is $12,600. The burglar remains at large.

Possession of Marijuana--On Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. on Prospect Road. An officer viewed two students who had just smoked marijuana. Upon consent, the officer searched the backpack of one of the students and located a small bag of marijuana and a warm pipe. The juvenile admitted to giving some marijuana to his friend to smoke. The first juvenile was cited and released to his mother. The second juvenile was released without charges.

Grand Theft--On Oct. 24 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Fruitvale Avenue. A bicycle was stolen.

Theft--Sometime between midnight on Oct.21 and midnight on Nov. 1 on Big Basin Way. A person wanted to report a prior theft of money from his coin-operated machines. The person said the machines had been broken into 2,000 times since November 2004 and that the culprit is now in custody in Sunnyvale. The person said he did not know the location of the sheriff's office or how to contact it so he never reported the thefts. The machines displayed no evidence of damage or tampering. Nearby residents said they had never seen the machines damaged or out of order.

Vandalism--Sometime between Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. and Oct. 25 at 10:30 p.m. on Bonnie Ridge Way. An unknown object was used to shoot a projectile at a glass window. The projectile broke through two glass panes, leaving a hole 4 inches in diameter. The cost to repair or replace the window is estimated at $1,000.

Arson--Between Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. and Oct. 24 at 3:55 p.m. on Herriman Avenue. A 15-year-old juvenile set fire to three school lockers and three garbage cans. The school's assistant principal questioned the juvenile, who admitted to setting the fires and vandalizing a teacher's vehicle. The juvenile was in possession of alcohol and a flammable substance. The juvenile was arrested and booked into juvenile hall.
