Robert Earl Oliver, 85, a lifelong resident of Saratoga, died Nov. 4 at Good Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Oliver was born in 1920 on Fruitvale Avenue in Saratoga. He married Doreen Caton from England, whom he had courted during the war, and together they spent more than 60 years in Saratoga. They had two sons, Mark and Robin.

Oliver is survived by his wife, Doreen Oliver; their sons, Mark and Robin Oliver; his daughters-in-law, Barbara and Jenny Oliver; and his grandchildren, Kendra, Stephen and Nicole Oliver.
